Blamuel Njururi, 67, is a courageous journalist who in Kenya’s dark days of Moi era repressive dictatorship suffered over a dozen arrests was severally detained in police stations and remand homes, and finally spent Christmas at Kamiti Maximum Prison, for Exposing Corruption, Fighting for Press Freedom and expression as well as social injustice. He would be arrested in Nairobi and transported to Mombasa to face drummed charges of “Sedition”. The Attorney General would eventually enter nolle proseque after years of attending law courts around the country. That was costly and drained family resources denying two of his children university education after they were discontinued at United States International University in Nairobi. He was Journalst of the Year in 1975 with Nation Newspapers, when his twin sons were born. He was again Journalist of the Year in 1978 with Weekly Review/Nairobi Times, when second born daughter was born. He won Best Designed Weekly Newspaper - Sunday Times in 1983. He was Managing Editor Sunday Times at Kenya Times. Won Journalist of the Year 2004 for Kenya Confidential Alternative Media award.
