Movie Review | The Conspirator in Theatres Today

April 16, 2011 – The Conspirator a movie focusing on President Abraham Lincoln’s assassination and the mother of assassin, John Wilkes Booth’s, Mary Surrat along with Frederick Aiken, a Union War hero turned lawyer.

The story covers the massive manhunt to arrest, and convict the conspirators who helped John Wilkes Booth pull-off the nation’s first successful assassination of the 16th President. Aiken (James McAvoy) Mary Surrat’s appointed defense attorney was convinced to take on the case by former Attorney General Reverdy Johnson (Tom Wilkinson).

An outstanding documentary of the aftermath of the death of a president, and the first post-war time trial critical to bringing stability back to a once divided nation is a must see for moviegoers this weekend.
